When should you consider replacing
your old heat pump unit?
A unit that no longer works is one of many reasons to replace your system. If you are experiencing longer running times, loud noises, multiple repairs, or your system is 10+ years old, this may be the time to invest in a new air conditioning system.
Over the years, there has been many innovations and technological advancements with the air conditioning industry. Today, you could save up to 60% or even more on costs if you upgrade from an old air conditioning unit.
With a new heat pump, air conditioner or ducted system, you will lower your monthly bills with a more energy-efficient unit. Easily enjoy better control over your indoor temperature and have confidence that your unit will last for years to come.
Yes, heat pumps are generally considered energy-efficient heating and cooling systems. Heat pumps transfer heat from one place to another rather than generating heat directly. In heating mode, they extract heat from the outside air and transfer it into the indoor space. In cooling mode, the process is reversed, and they extract heat from the indoor space and release it outside.
Heat pumps require regular maintenance for several reasons; this includes maintaining optimal performance, durability and longevity. It’s recommended to have a professional technician to service your heat pump annually.
Installing a heat pump is a complex task that typically requires professional expertise. Heat pump installation involves various technical aspects, which can be challenging for someone without knowledge and experience.
While DIY installation may seem like a cost-saving option, it can lead to safety risks, legal complications, and potential problems. Hiring a qualified HVAC professional who can ensure a proper, safe installation and comply with local regulations is highly recommended.
Yes, of course. Our trained professionals will ensure the heat pump installation complies with the Healthy Homes Standards.
What is a heat pump/air conditioner? Heat pump - Auckland Get a glimpse into how air conditioners work
All heat pumps and air conditioners function similarly. Rather than adding cool air to a room, an air conditioner and heat pump actively remove heat and humidity from the air. It returns chilled air to the interior while transferring undesired heat and humidity outside. Common cooling systems include a compressor, condenser coil, and evaporator coil.
These components work together to transform the refrigerant from gas to liquid and back again efficiently. The refrigerant gas is compressed and heated before being sent to the condenser coil, which condenses back into a liquid. After that, the refrigerant goes back inside and into the evaporator coil. The indoor coil is then cooled by evaporation of the liquid refrigerant. A fan draws interior air through a cool evaporator coil, where the heat from the house is transported to the refrigerant. Once the air has been cooled, it is distributed throughout the house while the evaporated gas is rerouted outside to the compressor. When the refrigerant changes back to a liquid, the heat is dissipated into the surrounding air. Up until the required temperature is attained in your house, this cycle is repeated.
Most importantly, heat pumps keep you comfortable all year round!
Heat pumps for homes and businesses
If you are considering a heat pump installation or tossing up your options, here are a few advantages of a heat pump.
With a heat pump, there is no need to install separate complex systems to heat and cool your home, just gear up the two-party system, and you’re good to go.
If you’re concerned about being eco-conscious, don’t worry! A heat pump installation is a green way to heat and cool your home. A heat pump works exceptionally efficiently because they transfer heat/cool air rather than burn fuel.
Heat pumps are also light on the pockets – the running cost of heat pumps is very low compared to other heating appliances. Heat pump running costs can start from as low as 60 cents for every 8 hours! Heat pumps are incredibly cheap to run especially compared to oil and fan heaters.
